WOS Montessori

Why WOS Pre School

This is the school where teachers make appreciable efforts to make the entire learning experience fun, efficient and interactive.

Here focused approach is adopted to identify the document strengths and weaknesses of every individual child.

It is often said “we shape our buildings, thereafter, they shape us”. At Pre School we lay the foundation to the young mind for their future.  While designing our learning space, we make sure that we design our infrastructure as good spaces that will aid and enhance the educational experience of child, in addition to creating the best learning outlook.

Curriculum

Kindori
The I-LAP incorporates the four essential interrelated skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The approach is eclectic and holistic. It recognizes that there is no one best method or approach to language instruction. However, it supports current research findings on the language development of young children which indicates that the effective acquisition of language is attained when children interact meaningfully with adults and peers in a conducive language and literate environment.
Art and Craft activities are specially planned to allow children to express themselves through a variety of mediums such as paint, crayons and collage.
The academic curriculum is supported by educational software which are carefully selected to reinforce classroom learning. As specially designed software is integrated and learning made fun in creative ways.
Kinder Circle Time is a systematic thematic approach to special group of children to focus on a common theme through songs, stories, rhymes and other large group activities. It involves teacher-planned and teacher-directed discussions.
Themes or unit topics serve to unify the weeks learning in interrelated ways. For example, if the theme for the week is on Animals, then songs and/or stories should have relevance to animals, such as where animals live, or how animals move. Kinder Circle Time is also a special time to build foster or restrict creative potential. To foster creativity, resource team at WPS realized that the environment must itself be beautiful, harmonious, and based on reality in order for children to organize their perceptions of it. Children therefore, need freedom to develop creativity – freedom to select what attracts them to their environment, and to relate it without interruption and for as long as they like, to discover solutions and ideas and select answers of their own and to communicate and share their discoveries with others at will. Creativity is involved with the intellectual as well as the aesthetic processes of the mind. Children in the WPS classrooms are free from judgement by an outside authority.

Academic Programme

An important part of the Pre School programme is to focus on the many Pre-Writing activities which develops the fine motor skills required for handwriting. Activities such as stringing beads, lacing cards, finger painting, modelling clay & play dough placing pegs in peg boards, repeating finger lays all help develop the muscles and coordination required before a child begins formal hand writing.
Pre School Classrooms are print rich environments where in class library is a special part of each day. The primary goal of reading programme in Pre School is to instil love of books and support the idea that reading is fun and exciting experience.
Speaking and Listening are an integral part of the Pre School programme. Young children will be helped to develop the abilities to express thoughts and opinions clearly and fluently, to speak confidently in front of peers, to participate in small group discussions and to ask and answer relevant questions.

Early Childhood Education (ECE)

Kindori

The philosophy of Early Childhood Education (ECE) at Woodland Pre School is largely child centered education. Therefore, there is focus on the importance of play. Play provides children with the opportunity to actively explore, manipulate and interact with their environment.

Like an encyclopaedia, our curriculum is broad-based and horizontally challenging. The child will benefit immensely from the quality of interactions with his talented teachers, who are highly motivated through special training capsules to give the best to the children under their care.

Let Woodland Pre School make the difference for your child…..together we shall challenge these little minds and assure them of a brilliant future.

Children are given opportunity to learn, grow and develop....

Kindori

Children are given the opportunity to learn, grow and develop in a climate of genuine affection and warmth in their own time and in their own unique way.

The WPS classroom offers unique educational didactic (self-teaching) materials, which are manipulated by the children in the classroom.  They accommodate many levels of ability.  They aid this growth by providing stimuli that captures the child’s attention and initiates a process of concentration.  Children use the materials provided to develop co-ordination, attention to details and good working habits.  When the environment offers materials that polarize the children, the teacher is then able to give the freedom needed for healthy development.

The ECC encourages students to:

  • Question, discover, create, communicate and explore.
  • Develop confidence in their own abilities.
  • Embrace new and challenging experiences.
  • Develop a love for learning.

The Primary School challenges young children to learn through an enriching, captivating and developmentally appropriate program.  We provide children with opportunities to explore, experiment and discover, while they learn the fundamental skills appropriate to their stage of development and we prepare them for further academic growth.

Our young children are tomorrow’s leaders.  They need a good foundation in a caring environment, where they can thrive and develop at an appropriate pace, to be able to better meet the challenges and opportunities of the future.

There is a certified teacher and a teacher’s aide in every Pre School classroom.
